After the Disrupt, I’ve been looking to hear more from my favorite producers little brother. So I was waiting for the release of this album, and was luckily able to catch an interview Oh did giving props to what might be called his primary collaborator, Galt McDermot. I’m sure there are a few of you saying “Who the hell is Galt McDermot?” Lemme just say, look him up.
Oh uses Galt’s music to create a sonic landscape that amazes. The emotions brought about by this album are widely varied, and while the beats are incredible, you have to give it to Oh for his choice of MCs. With Oh’s beats being ridden by some doper than dope MCs including but not limited to Stones Throw label mates M.E.D. and Wildchild, to Murs and Wordsworth with appearances on the Mic by the Disrupt himself, Exodus is a top level beat journey, the likes of J. Dilla’s Welcome to Detroit, and Hi-Tek’s seminal Hi-Teknology, so if you love Beats I advise you to cop this album, and lets hope that more beat-makers follow in Oh’s footsteps.
