Frightened Rabbit, a trio from Glasgow, Scotland, has just released their debut album Sing The Greys, though they have been a band since 2004. Don't let the band's name lead you to believe that these Scottish fellows are in any way shape or form frightened to play the way that they do. The first few notes off their first track “The Greys” jump starts the album. Playing the way that they do lets them create beautiful music with seemingly simple melodies that includes creative and inspiring lyrics. This is really awesome to hear, especially in this day and age when a body is surround with unoriginal cookie cutter bands. Frightened Rabbit's music has the ability to cross an assortment of musical genres and grab the attention of a variety of listeners. Finding out who the creators of Frightened Rabbit are may take a little searching. The album only says that Frightened Rabbit created all their songs. There is not a listing of the band members names, but after searching you will find that the band centers around Scott and Grant Hutchinson (brothers), and a third band member that is only listed as Billy. This member plays second guitar, while the others play drums, guitar, and vocals. There is no denying that this is a good band. It would be a mistake to let these guys slip on by, but as their second track “Music Now” states, “If this song falls on deaf ears, [they'll] lip sync it so you can hear.” This song starts off like a temper tantrum of a small child. They're shouting for the music to the steady pounding of the bass drum and then the gentle picking of an acoustic guitar, the tapping of keys, and a heavy bass line is then introduced. When it is all put together it becomes something great. This is only the second track too. As the album continues make sure to listen to “Yawns,” “Square” and “Snake,” because in the end these are the songs that are going leave you in a fantastic feel good mood.
