WIDB Top Albums of 2007

Revolution Top 30

Top 30 Records of 2007

This is a list of what the WIDB – The Revolution music staff feels are the 30 best albums of the year. Why 30? We post our top 30 records each week and felt that it would be appropriate to do the same for the year. We understand that you might not agree. Please feel free to contact me at altmusic@widb.net or at (618) 453-6442. I would be interested to receive feedback. I would like you to keep in mind that by limiting ourselves to only 30 records means that we are leaving off a ton of amazing LPs. Also, it is important to note that we did not include any soundtracks, EPs, compilations or live records. At WIDB we love our vinyl and the idea of an actual record. Though we know that digital music is the way of the future; do not give into compressed garbage. This holiday season, support your local record store!

Thanks for listening and reading!

Have a great holiday!

Remedy Top 10

It has been an outstanding year for hip hop. Nas ended 2006 stating that hip hop was dead; when in retrospect he was setting the stage for some unbelievable albums in 2007. In a genre that is often classified as disposable; it is refreshing to struggle to make a list of the best albums because the year was filled with some soon to be classic albums. This list represents the top ten hip hop albums of the year. To limit the list to ten, EP’s, mix tapes, and re releases are not included. Finally, although I tried to be as unbiased as possible; top ten lists are slightly subjective. If you disagree with one or any of the artists, or you think others should have been considered e-mail me at hiphop@widb.net. I would love to hear what you think.

Metal Top 10

It’s been one hell of a year for metal. We’ve had some new bands coming up huge, and some old acts making massive comebacks and returning to their former glory. We’ve had super groups, and animated TV show bands. All in all, it’s been exciting, and I can’t wait for what 2008 will bring. Now I’m sure some of you will have problems with my list, because there’s been so much happening this year, so if you have suggestions for possible amendments, feel free to email me at metal@widb.net. Take care everybody, and keep listening to metal you dumb bastards.

  2. United Abominations-Megadeth (Roadrunner)
  3. The Last Kind Words-Devildriver (Roadrunner)
