Hot New Items on the Menu
Good evening radioheads,
On tonight’s menu here at the Revolution…
CLOUD NOTHINGS’s latest (greatest?) release, Turning On, features the collected best-efforts of a lo-fi hero with a nasty fuzz-box habit and songwriting chops far beyond his years.
Check out ARTICHOKE, baby-faced pop a la Apples in Stereo, and their latest, Bees. Think Lou Reed without the heroin, or Belle & Sebastian with a Pixies-mentality.
One of the chefs’ favorites: BEAR HANDS (album, Burning Bush Supper Club). High energy without sacrificing thought. Thoughtful without dragging on. Eclectic? Maybe, just well-rounded. Think Bibio, or Phoenix with a little more chest hair.
For the noise-minded, get an earful of ROYAL BATHS. Not as aggressive as WOMEN, but equally unignorable. Think The Unicorns tutored by Thurston Moore.
Make sure to check out FOALS. Math-rock from over the pond for the set of ears not looking for math-rock. Mashing equal parts Talking Heads, At the Drive-in, and electr0-funk together, here’s a concoction that goes down smooth (but is surprisingly strong).
That’s all for now. Thanks for playing.
