Saluki football (2-5, 1-4 MVC) will take a four game losing streak into their match-up with No. 22 Illinois State (5-3, 3-2 MVC) Saturday at 2:30 p.m. The game will be on http://www.widb.net/revolution with Sam Donets and Rob Jesselson providing the play-by-play.

SIU returns from a close 17-10 loss at #2 UNI last Saturday, where the Salukis had the ball on the UNI 28 yard line after Courtney Richmond forced a fumble with 5:32 left in the fourth quarter. Two rushes by Jewel Hampton that went nowhere followed by two incomplete passes from the arm of Kory Faulkner killed the last scoring threat for the Salukis.

“We just need to score, that’s the bottom line,” head coach Dale Lennon said Monday. “When we have the opportunity to score, we need to do it.”

Southern Illinois only entered the redzone twice against the top rated scoring defense in conference play this season, but despite that there is still a question mark at quarterback with Kory Faulkner’s 91 yard performance through the air.

“You could see A.J. (Hill) at any point in time. You could have seen him at any point in the past couple of games, too,” Lennon said. “A.J. has got to be ready and he knows that. He’s been working hard to prepare and that’s just the nature of being the number two quarterback.”

With Paul McIntosh unavailable due to a shoulder injury suffered against Western Illinois Oct. 1 and the playoffs out of reach, it might be worth it to see what Hill can bring. Here are the WIDB staff score predictions for the game:

Joe: 31-24 Il. State
Sam Donets: 27-24 SIU
Rob Jesselson: 34-27 Il. State
Rob Forster: 37-10 Il. State
Tim Davis: 21-20 SIU
Paul Chancey: 17-13 SIU
Jacob Rainwater: 28-13 SIU
Matt Vanderbilt: 27-20 Il. State
Evan Collins: 14-11 SIU
Daniel Valle: 19-10 Il. State
Jared Baim: 13-7 Il. State
Tim Harkovich: 24-17 Il. State
